A New Way To Apply Blush from Smashbox

Smashbox-Masquerade-Creamy-Cheek-Color-&-Brush-in-Intrigue I love a new way of doing something or rather a new idea when it comes to packaging and that’s just what  this product gives us when it comes to blush. When it comes to cream blushes, I’m so used to using my fingers to blend it in but when it comes to SMASHBOX’s new Creamy Cheek Color & Brush ($29 @ smashbox.com) from the Masquerade Collection, one side is your color and the other side is the brush to blend it into the skin. I really thought the bristles would be too firm and make the process uncomfortable but they are actually pretty soft but not so soft that they don’t do a good job working the color in nicely.

It’s only available in Intrigue (warm pink) but hopefully they will continue this packaging trend.

And this is a great one to tote along in your purse!

Jemma Kidd Makes Cheeks Pop!

Jemma-Kidd-Blushwear-Cheek-in-Guava I just cut all my hair off and am sporting a kind of short hairdo now. I was overdo and really needed a change and am loving that I did it! Since I have a round face, a short do can be kind of tough to puttl off so I’ve been looking for a blush that will really make my cheeks stand out and add some definition. (I keep thinking of this in relation to the girl who gets engaged and now has to have her nails manicure ready to really show off the ring!). This JEMMA KIDD Make Up School Blushwear Crème Cheek Color in Guava ($23 @ glow.com) is really doing the trick right now. I’ve been using a sponge and buffing the vibrant coral pink shade on the apples of my cheeks with a little dipped just under the cheekbone towards the ear. And this cream to powder formula has vitamins A, C and E. Nice one Jemma!

This product has Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate in it, which is seen by some as an ingredient of concern. Read more here.

Unleash Your Inner Artist w/ the Latest from Hourglass Cosmetics

Hourglass-Illume-Creme-to-Powder-Bronzer-Duo HOURGLASS Illume Crème-to-Powder Bronzer Duo in Sunset has to be one of the most perfectly colored blush/bronzer I have ever come across. The blush is a sheer pinky-rose and the bronzer a tad darker than I’m used to wearing but I’m able to make it work.

If you are a light to medium olive, this will be perfect for you. As the name states, both start as a cream and then turn into a powder. The formula is oil and paraben-free, vitamins A & E and has their signature 360° swivel compact mirror. $40 @ sephora.com.

NARS Welcomes Summer with Multiples

NARS-Multiple-Tint Whoo-wee do these NARS Multiple Tints ($38 @ narscosmetics.com) scream sum-sum-summertime! I mean look at the colors, bright pink, purplish and orange. They are pretty sheer so no worries on overdoing it at first swiped  and the color is totally buildable and looks really natural, like a flush. Can also be used on lips!

From L to R: Beverly Hills (bright red), Turks and Caicos (orange), Cadaques (fuchsia).

Illuminating Cheeks Via Lorac

Lorac-Baked-Matte-Satin-Blush-in-Flaunt When I first laid eyes on LORAC’s Baked Matte Satin Blush, in Flaunt I thought it had two of the traits I don’t look for in a blush – bright and shimmery. But trying is believing and like a lot of beauty products, you have to try them to get the real deal and I’m glad I didn’t write this one off at first sight. It’s one of those baked powder formulas so it’s very pigmented and blends easily. The shimmery part in this comes from Mica inside but it really aided in the glow it instills on the cheeks. No cheap-o looking shimmer, just glow. I was floored, really!

The two new shades are the above Flaunt, a bright pink, and Plush a peach. $24 @ beauty.com

Spring Color Pick 2010 ~ Coral ~

When I’m walking down the street or in the mall and see someone with a pop of color on like a shirt or bag, I always end up saying in my head, “That looks cool. I gotta get me something in that shade.” And I do make an effort but I find myself gravitating back to the blacks and beiges. Why is this? I mean a pop of color always feels so fun and right. One area I seem to be successful in adding a pop of color to is my makeup routine. Lips or eyes or cheeks, why not add one of the colors of the season, coral to your look?

Here are some more picks in the on-going Spring Color Picks feature. Consider picking up any of these.

Spring Color Picks 2010

Pantone-Fashion-Color-Report-Spring-2010 If you follow any aspect of fashion, you’ve heard that the Pantone Color of the Year for 2010 is Turquoise. Just hearing that news recently made me want to redo my living room or at least add some turquoise accents. Did I? No but I it did make me think of beauty products and how I could reflect the trend in my everyday makeup look with a splash of liquid on my nails or powder on my lids. “Combining the serene qualities of blue and the invigorating aspects of green, Turquoise inspires thoughts of soothing, tropical waters and a comforting escape from the everyday troubles of the world, while at the same time restoring our sense of wellbeing.”

Other colors of the Spring Season? Tomato Purée, Fusion Coral, Violet and Tuscany, to name a few. So what does that mean to you? I’ll be highlighting some products that showcase the colors in an on-going feature called Spring Color Picks. First up? Turquoise and Tomato Purée. I’m pairing the soothing blue-green and the tangy classic red in one feature as I think they balance each other out nicely.

So you wanna see the product picks?
