Review+Swatches - Benefit Cha Cha Tint Mango Stain

I’ve long been a fan of any kind of makeup stain because of the longevity, obviously. And I may have been too harsh on a product in the next line, specifically, BENEFIT COSMETICS’ stain/tint products. See, I’m just not a fan of the nail polish brushes they use to apply the color. I just don’t get it! It’s thin and makes things streaky … I just don’t get it but many must since their Benetint has topped many-a top 10 beauty lists over the years.

Make Up Your Look in the Bronze Family

Do you ever think about coordinating your eye shadow and lipstick/lip gloss? Now I don’t mean matching them exactly but just making sure they are in the same color family. I’ve put three together that I think really work. What do you think?

  Napoleon-Perdis-Benefit-Smashbox

1. Do you have a go to shade of eye shadow that just seems to get a lot of complements? For me, it’s this China Doll Eyeliner in the color Copper from the NAPOLEON PERDIS line. I’d describe it as a shimmery brick red and I just get more comments on it more than any other eye shadow (how I like to wear it as opposed to a liner) before. $25 @ napoleonperdis.com.

2. Another all-time favorite is BENEFIT COSMETICS Dallas. This rosy bronze is just the right amount of blush and bronzer in one container. $28 @ benefitcosmetics.com.

3. I tried a few different lipsticks and lip glosses with the above two products but  the SMASHBOX Lip Enhancing Gloss in Reveal seemed to work best next to matte cheeks to really ties the whole look in together. $19 @ smashbox.com.

Benefit-Don't-Stray-Mark-Please-Hold-Eye-Primer-NP-Set-Eye-Primer You spend all that time trying to get the look so why not hold onto it with one of these must-have eyelid primers?

MARK Please Hold Eye Primer ($8 @ meetmark.com in late May) – the budget choice.

BENEFIT COSMETICS Stay Don’t Stray ($24 @ benefitcosmetics.com) – the stay fresh choice.

NP Set Eye Primer ($15 @ target.com) – the excuse-to-go-to-Target choice.

Quick Pick Lips - Benefit Talks Pigment

Benefit-Lip-Gloss If you’re sick of buying lip glosses that look colorful in the tube and then nude on lips, BENEFIT’s new Lip Gloss ($18 @ benefitcosmetics.com) is the collection for you. Available in eight wearable shades (yes there is a nude one!), you’ll never wonder where the color went with any of these. Color picks: Almost Famous (copper penny) and Friend in High Places (sparkling raspberry).

And these get major bonus points for the apricot-lychee scent!

Benefit Wants To Know ... My Place Or Yours?

Benefit-My-Place-Or-Yours-Gina I’m not easy to please when it comes to fragrances but wow, packaging and all, this new one from BENEFIT  has me floored. It’s from the Eau de Toilette collection they just put out and out of all three the My Place or Yours Gina ($36/1oz @ benefitcosmetics.com) is the one of the moment. It’s a woody oriental and here are the notes:

> top notes: pink pepper, bergamot and tangerine
> middle notes: peony, wild raspberry, white lily
> bottom notes: patchouli, tonka bean, vanilla beans

When you hit a certain age, you simply must know what notes you like. Make this year the year you declare yours!

Benefit Knows What Makes A Good Liner

Benefit-BADgal-liner I’m really loving the BENEFIT line right now. I’ve always been hit or miss with the line and the past two products have both been hits! One I am telling anyone who will listen about is their BADgal Extra Black Waterproof Eye Pencil ($20 @ benefitcosmetics.com). You know the part inside your bottom lid that you can run color along and it’s gone within 2 minutes? Since this one is waterproof, it stays put! And on the other side of the pencil is a smudger to if you choose to do your whole eye with the liner, it won’t creep down your face during that sad, sad movie.

Apply Some ~Ista From Benefit

Benefit-Coralista-2 What a blast of wow BENEFIT’s new CORALista ($28 @ benefitcosmetics.com) is for me. This is their latest face color addtion and this one is described as a coral pink sheen. If you are looking for a color to update your look to get you into the Spring, this is the one.

Benefit Cosmetics Is You ... Just Better

Benefit-Cosmetics-Full-Finish-Lipstick There’s certain items we are always on the hunt for. For me, it’s a good basic black t-shrit, the perfect pair of jeans and the ideal nude lipstick. I’ve found good ones here and there but this one seems to be filling the void for right now. BENEFiT COSMETICS Full-Finish Lipstick in Lady’s Choice ($18 @ benefitcosmetics.com) gives lips a YLLB finish. Need a little more? The vibrant red of Flirt Alert should do the trick.

Benefit Cosmetics Gives Instant Brows

BenefitinstanteyebrowpenI’m pretty brow obsessed. It all started last century when I moved from Boston to Los Angeles a decade ago. I’d had never even thought of waxing or tweezing or really doing anything to my eyebrow area. Somehow, my outlook changed when I landed in LA. I suddenly became interested in cleaning them up and have been waxing them ever since. I also tried threading recently but I don’t think I’ll be continuing that. A co-worker worded me up that they were completely uneven and one was thinner than the other … oh they’re a mess right now. So while I try and figure out how my “wax or tweeze” future looks, I at least have one thing down when it comes to that area and that’s product for them! As I mentioned before more than a few times, I always go too dark when it comes to using the right color pencil or powder. This new BENEFiT COSMETICS Instant Eyebrow Pencil in Light to Medium ($20 @ benefitcosmetics.com) has color on one end and a spoolie on the other to work it in and it’s for sure not too dark for my medium brunette hair color. It’s actually a little lighter than my hair, which is good since that makes it goof-proof.

Erase Some Face With Benefit

Erase_paste3This is the cutest hot pink container! BENEFiT’s Erase Paste ($26/.15oz @ benefitcosmetics.com) is a concealer that not only hides blemishes and other unsightly markings but also brightens and camouflages the area. Think of those face foundations that have properties inside to blur imperfections. This uses the same technology. Use a dab under the eyes, the shadows around the nose and you can add a tiny bit of water to make it more blendable. It comes in three shades and even has a tiny spatula to spoon some out.
