Are They Real? Testing Out Benefit's New They're Real! Push-Up Liner

This new gel liner in a pen is a huge launch for BENEFIT COSMETICS and the buzz on it seems to be everywhere. It complements their super successful They’re Real! Mascara and called They’re Real! Push-Up Liner ($24). This one claims to get the black color super close to lashes using their Custom AccuFlex Tip. So how did it work?

Is This One Really BIGGER Than A BB Cream?

Benefit-Cosmetics-Big-Easy-Multi-Balancing-Complexion-Perfector-main
I’ve kinda been expecting someone to come out with the next multi-tasking makeup for the face i.e. the next phase of BB or CC creams and this 'Big Easy' Multi-Balancing Complexion Perfector from BENEFIT COSMETICS seems to be it. So what does it do? Well, it’s a multi-multi-tasker – controls oil, balances moisture, fights off free radicals, protects skin from the sun with a broad spectrum SPF 35, is able to self-adjust to match your skin tone, and it washes the dishes… ok kidding about that last one but I really think these products that do so many things are spoiling us beauty lovers in a major way! But I’m not complaining. I just need to keep expectations in order when I’m trying out non-multi-tasking products.

So how does this one stack up? I’m really liking the formula a lot. It comes outta the tube looking like a foundation but it goes on pretty sheer and is buildable. They say it, “melts in like a cream, yet finishes lightweight & velvety like a powder … “ and I couldn’t agree more. You know that feeling when you’re wearing foundation? Well this one absolutely doesn’t not fall into that category and I can’t think of the last time I actually didn’t feel when I was wearing it.

This comes in six shades but remember it is self-adjusting, so most should be able to match their tone. I’m not sure why the darkest shade is really not that dark so for right now those with darker tones that will miss out on this one but I’m guessing there is a good reason.

And as much as I love Benefit’s packaging, I really think they need to cut down on the boxes and inserts as it really is a waste of materials for something that just ends up going in the trash.

Benefit Cosmetics Greets 2014 with Lollitint

Love BENEFIT COSMETICS’ cheek stains? Well they just came out with a new one called Lollitint. And it’s right on trend with 2014’s Color of the Year, Orchid. This one called described as a candy orchid and is a lilac or lavender cream color.

Benefit-lollitint

Since these are a stain, I find the best way to apply them is to dab-dab onto a sponge and then dab-dab onto cheeks. That way there is no harsh lines or streaking.

Is this something you will be picking up for 2014?

Gift Pick: When You Need Something Quick!

What It Is: BENEFIT COSMETICS Groovy Kind-a Love! and Luv it Up! Holiday Makeup Kits - $36 and $25 @ benefitcosmetics.com

What I Like It: Every gift set the brand makes is ready for gifting and just so much fun that you’re sure to get a smile out of the recipients. Sets like their aforementioned contain multiply deluxe sample sized shadows, blushes, lippies etc from the brand all in a keepsake tin box. I don’t know how the brand does it! I mean, I think it’s expensive to create unique packaging like they do for a lot of their products and limited-edition ones but I guess that’s how you get people’s attention, so take advantage of it!

The 2013 Cybelesays Holiday Gift Picks

It’s that time of year again! Time for my Annual Holiday Gift Guide and with so many great products out there, I’ve got a lot of suggestions that will fit many on your list. So from now until Christmas eve, when you see this Christmas Tree next to a product picture in a post like below, you’ll know it’s one of my gift picks. Let’s get it started.

What it Is: BENEFIT COSMETICS Countdown to Love - $68 @ benefitcosmetics.com.

Why I like it: This is one of the more creative items I’ve seen but it requires gifting early as in, by this Monday, December 1st, to get the most out of it. So if you are out shopping this Black Friday weekend, put it on your list! It’s one of those advent calendar but instead of using chocolate or other edibles, this Pop Art box has 24 beauty treasures, which are mostly their best-selling products, just deluxe-sized versions of them like High Beam, the POREfessional, BADgal Lash Mascara and others. And on 3 of the days, the recipient will open the door and get a cute piece of jewelry.

Benefit Cosmetics Puts Out A New Box o' Powder

When I first laid eyes on the BENEFIT COSMETICS’s new Rocktateur Box o’ Powder ($28 @ benefitcosmetics.com) I thought it looked a lot like Dallas, which is one of my favorite all-time blushes. But upon further inspection, I see that this one is not as bronzy and described as a rose gold, while Dallas is a more of a rose bronze color.

And while this Rockateur is certainly easier to wield because it’s lighter and buildable, I still think Dallas suits my tone better because it helps give cheeks some definition because of the bronzer color mixed with some pinky blush color.

New!! Benefit Cosmetics Bathina "Soft to the Touch...Hard to Get"

I’m a big fan of this one from BENEFIT COSMETICS and they just came out with a body oil with another one in this Bathina Collection with the lovely scent called Bathina “Soft to the Touch…Hard to Get” silky & seductive body oil mist ($34/2.5oz @ benefitcosmetics.com).

This is a mist of body oil and contains sweet almond, olive and avocado oils, as well as vitamin E, so perfect for applying after a bath.

Benefit-Bathina-Soft-To-Tou

But here is my question, since the brand has fragrances in their line now, why no eau de parfum or eau de toilette of this scent? It’s really nice and would be wonderful to layer it onto this one. Just a thought…

Who Says A Primer Can Last 15 Hours?? They Do.

I’m always a little suspicious when a product claims “24-hour wear” or in this case, “15-hour wear.” How can they really test that it lasts that long (would love to see the procedure!) and isn’t it really just a name they can give the product? In any case, the latest long-wearing product is BENEFIT COSMETICSStay Flawless 15-Hour Primer Base ($32 @ sephora.com). This one is an invisible face primer used before any tinted moisturizer or foundation to prolong the wear.

Benefit-Stay-Flawless-15-Hour-PrimerI love that it comes in a stick form as you can see from the picture so I don’t have to waste any of it on my fingers.

So how long did it last on my skin? I got a full evening out of it the few times I tried it and that’s always good enough for me. My test is how much makeup comes off on my washcloth when I’m washing my face. So you could say I’m a fan of this stick.

Spring Color Must Haves

Bright pinks, reds, corals, nude and even seafoam are all hot colors for the spring. What are you updating your collection with this season? Here are my favorites right now. (L to R clockwise).

Spring-Color-Must-Haves-2013L’OREAL Infallible Liquid Eyeliner ($8.95 @ lorealparisusa.com) – When they come out with anything Infallible, I listen! A black liquid liner is very basic and crosses all seasons. This .4mm felt tip pen is pretty easy to apply and lasts for hours.

NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Barrow Street ($24 @ sephora.com) – I’m pretty obsessed with this seafoam green color. I have two dressed in the color and jumped for joy when I saw this liner in the same color. And it looks great on the waterline!

NAKED PRINCESS Naked Shine Luscious Lip Gloss in Barely Naked ($26 @ nakedprincess.com) – a great nude gloss is hard to find since most don’t show up. This one does, in spades but oh so naturally.

BARE ESCENTUALS Buxom Hot Escapes Bronzer in Tahiti ($28 @ bareescentuals.com) – what would the season be without a face highlighting bronzer? I’ve been using this golden bronze color just under my cheek bones to help define them.

BENEFIT Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in Poutrageous! ($16 @ benefitcosmetics.com) – coral is not going anywhere this season and it’s hotter than ever, so if you’re feeling up to making a statement, take on this bright pink-coral color.

ZOYA PixieDust Nail Lacquer in Godiva ($9 @ artofbeauty.com) – textured polishes are so hot right now and this PixieDust kind from Zoya are at the top of the list of must-haves. This Godiva one described as a soft nude with sugared sparkle. Yup, that’s exactly what it looks like on nails.

SEPHORA Colorful Eye Shadow in My Boyfriend’s Jeans No 19 ($13 @ sephora.com) – this dark denim with just a touch of shimmer blue is a nice alternative to always using black to contour your eyes.

Benefit's Fakeup Hydrating Crease-Control Concealer

Benefit-Fakeup-Crease-Control-Hydrating-ConcealerThis new Fakeup Hydrating Crease-Control Concealer from BENEFIT is interesting. Not because it is a concealer but because it combines both a concealer and anti-aging/moisturizing ingredients. I guess I have just never associated the two together before as I’ve always applied them separately. Things that make you go hmmmm… Anyway, the color concealer sits inside of a hydrating ring of vitamin E and apple seed extract to help moisturize and helps fight aging.

Now I know that the area around the eye is very delicate so tugging is not recommended so this 2-in-1 is great so you’re not messing with the area to much. I’ve used it about 4 times now and got about 5 hours of wear before it started fading and it didn’t cake or crease during this time. And like those good foundations, this one uses that special light diffusing technology. Available in 3 shades. $24/3.5g @ benefitcosmetics.com.
