The Primavera Line Washes Up On US Shores

It’s not often that a line has multiple positives going for it. That’s why I’m excited to introduce you to a new line making its US debut from Germany. The 25 year-old line is called PRIMAVERA and if you’re looking for a line with quality natural and organic ingredients, this is one you will want to check out. Choose from four different product lines: face care, body care, wellness therapies and home fragrance. Primavera is the first brand to have all their products certified as natural and organic by NATRUE (I was unfamiliar with them so here is more info on them) and they also package them in recyclable glass bottles and jars.

Primavera-Rose-Sallow-Thorn-Body-Oil They have fair-trade partnerships with 18 growers around the world who provide over 125 of their ingredients. And if that’s not enough, their new state-of-the-art headquarters in Germany boasts a carbon neutral footprint. If these facts alone don’t make you want to try this line, then maybe info about the below product will.

The products I tried were their Restoring Rose Sallow Thorn Bath Oil ($37/3.4oz @ primaveralife.com). For me, October opens the door for bath season, officially, so the timing   was perfect. As I was running a bath, it was hard not to poor the whole bottle of bath oil into the water, it smelled so good! And I’m a fan of bath oils because it takes that extra step of moisturizing the skin afterward. I mean, who wants to stand in a cold room rubbing cream into your skin? I’d rather jump into some flannel pjs instead!

Anyway, this one is made with 70% organic ingredients, like rose hip, rose, sallow thorn and wheat germ, as well as jojoba and sweet almond oil. Not only did this oil soften the water but the delicate scent really made my first bath of the season quite enjoyable.

Trend Alert – Part 2 - Introducing Activaroma

Activaroma-Mandarin-and-Vanilla-Bath-&-Body-Oil-2 I did this feature about some new developments in hair and body oils and on that same front, am delighted to share this next new oil-based line with you. Released this past Valentine’s Day, ACTIVAROMA is based on the trend-setting ingredient Moroccan Argan Oil. Their motto is Created in Santa Barbara – Fashioned in Paris and uses the holistic approach to anti-aging and marries it with French traditions of natural and seductive fragrances. If that’s not up my alley, I don’t know what is!

Choose from a nice line up of products – facial oils, bath & shower oils, floral waters, pure essential oils and even a product for baby and Mom.

Out of the line, my pick right now is the Mandarin and Vanilla Bath & Shower Oil (again I have to ask … what’s with me and the orange lately??). I’ll say it again – LOOK. AT. THE. INGREDIENTS – Mandarin Red, Vanilla Absolute, Patchouli, Lime, Tonka Beach, Rose Damask Absolute blended with Argan Oil, Jojoba, coconut and sunflower. Such a body treat!

Yes, quality is not cheap, but aren’t you worth it? $59/3.4oz @ activaroma.com.

I’m pretty positive I will be writing about more products from this line so stay tuned.

Trend Alert! Oils – Part 1

It’s no surprise that oils for the hair and body have really taken off in the past couple of years and wow,  there are so many options now! But are you reading your ingredient lists? Most are just chock full’o silicones and while they’re not bad for you, they are mainly fillers and are used for the slicking properties. That’s fine, especially if you are using it on your hair. But for the body, I want real ingredients and nothing more! Here are some that are about as pure as you can get.

REN-Emtage-Melvita-hair-and-body-oils REN Moroccan Rose Otto Bath Oil ($48/4.7oz @ renskincare.com) – who doesn’t love rose? It’s such a lovely smell and this one gives it a kick with added sesame seed oil and clove oil among others. Basically this is comprised of 100% pure plant oils and 100% natural fragrance. Now how many products can tout that fact?

EMTAGE SILKtáge Rejuvenating Styling Serum ($33/3.4oz @ emtagehair.com) – I’ve been pretty religious about using a hair oil like these after I blow dry my hair to calm the frizzies down and to add a little moisture. And this one has moved to the top of that list! I mean check out this ingredient list! It opens with Certified Organic Camellia (green tea) seed oil, coconut and broccoli seed oils, Monoi flower extract and others. And it feels so light on strands and doesn’t leave any residue behind. Highly recommended.

MELVITA Calendula Oil for Face & Body ($19/1.7oz @ melvita.com) - If you want to get really simple with your beauty products, your moisturizer couldn’t get any simpler than by using this 100% Calendula oil. The oil is extracted from the flowers by macerating it in organic soybean oil. This is a great moisturizer for those with sensitive skin and it's ECOCERT certified.

I’m still sorting through some other ones here so I’ll be posting another feature on this subject shortly!

A Light Way to Moisturize with Leonor Greyl

Leonor-Greyl-Magnolia-Oil-2 Baby oil, body oil, any kind of oil really, I am a fan. One I forgot about that we featured on the site many years ago and deserves a repost, is LEONOR GREYL’s Magnolia Oil ($42/3.2oz @ beautyhabit.com). Made for the face and body, it smells so wonderfully of the Magnolia Blossom and contains a blend of pure botanical oils rich in pro-vitamins A. So put some on to help ease a sunburn or just for the sheen effect it leaves behind on the skin.
This oil is a little different than others out there in that it absorbs quicker than any I’ve ever used and a little goes a long way. Probably one of the reasons this one has quite the cult following. Big recommendation.

L'Occitane Adds a Dash of Honey

L'Occitane-Honey-&-Lemon-Softening-Oil Lo, how I love thee L’OCCiTANE. Their creative scents are some of the best I’ve come across since I started doing this 8 years ago. And their latest is one of my fave fragrances, honey! The Honey & Lemon Softening Oil ($14/3.4oz @ loccitane.com) is part of their Honey & Lemon Collection that came out around Valentine’s Day. Use this one as a body oil (the best way to moisturize), massage oil or a few drops in the bath.

L’Occitane Says, "Oi Verão!"

Now here are some products staying true to their source. L’OCCITANE’s new L’Occitane Do Brazil products are all made in Brazil. How many times does a product use a regions name just for the sake of sales? Well they are living it with this collection! Brazil’s Northern region is known for the nourishing ingredients found inside of the products and they truck them south to the Sao Paolo region (I’ve been dying to visit this city for the past 2 years), where they are manufactured.
Now let’s explore ingredients inside that make these worth checking out: Buriti (bour ee chee) - a fruit that is really high in antioxidant beta-carotene. This component is found in the Sun Cream High Protection SPF30 ($24/5.1oz) and the Sun Milk Medium Protection SPF15 ($24/5.1oz) and here’s a first, both of these are 100% mineral based. As in, mineral makeup, mineral based! The Daily UV Veil High Protection SPF30 ($22/.8oz), which is specially for the face and eye area, and the Sun Veil Intensive Tanning SPF6 ($24/5.1oz), also contain this awesome Buriti ingredient.

Loccgroup

Continuing with the ingredients, Cupuacu (coo pa choo) - comes from cocoa and is used in the After-Sun Balm Lotion ($22/5.1oz) because of this elements’ ability to keep the skin immensely hydrated. You know how fatigued you are after a long day in the sun? Just think of what your skin has just endured. This one really helps you bounce back.

And lastly, the Castanha (cah stahn ya) - the oil from this nut is has superior anti-oxidant properties and is rich in vitamins A, B, C, and E and is found in the formula of the Self-Tanner Progressive Natural Tan ($24/5.1oz).

The other two products are the Body and Hair Sublime Oil ($22/3.4oz) and Self-Tanning Veil ($22/1.7oz) and the Sublime Oil smells good enough to wear straight up as a summer scent! So get your summer on already with these nourishing sun care products, girl! All @ loccitane.com

Bathing Luxury

Lisahoffman_3We previewed the LISA HOFFMAN back in June and was finally able to try some. Since we are such bath girls, the Bath Soak ($35/4oz @ lisahoffman.com) from the Spa Bath line really jump out at me. This is a bath product for sophisticated adults. Not snobby adults, just grown up. It contains natural botanicals like the Star of Madagascar Orchid, Acai Oil and Bamboo and Hawaiian White Honey Extract, to name a few. Subtle luxury.
