Fall Eye Pick – CHANEL Blue Illusion de Chanel

Somebody pinch me because I can’t stop staring with glee at the eye items in Blue Illusion de Chanel. Reviewed and swatched here are the two eye shadows and eye liner.

The collection is described as, ”Peter Philips, Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, borrows the intangible hues of summer blue. Like a cloud-strewn sky, eyes take up shimmering reflections that change with the light.  The juvenile grace of an almost nude face showcases eyes with marine depths, mellowed by the radiance of blue tones.
On eyelids, ILLUSION D'OMBRE takes on a scintillating and satiny effect that makes eye makeup glow with each bat of the lashes. Two airy shades of grey blue, one pale, DESTINATION, and the other more intense, APPARITION, adapt to all faces. Eyeshadows are applied according to inspiration: in sheer washes or deep colour blocks, in monochrome or gradations. Mascara-laden lashes accentuate the graphic tracing of the eye contour with a sophisticated note. LE CRAYON YEUX BLEU AÉRIEN borders the eyelids with an intense stroke, like a horizon line over the ocean.

Let’s get to each product’s reality of pictures and swatches after the jump.

Juliette Has A Gun Romantina

I like to think that I’m finicky when it comes to perfumes but the number of bottles on my dressing table shown here in this picture might tell a different story altogether.

Cybelesays-perfume-table-3The latest I can’t get enough of is by the uniquely named company, JULIETTE HAS A GUN. At first I was more fascinated by the name of the company as this could have been a jewelry line, or a brand of clothing but fragrance is what they specialize in.

The latest release is an eau de parfum called Romantina and in reading up on the background of the scent, I came across this recent review by fellow beauty blogger The Non-Blonde and it brings up some great points. The only area I have to disagree is to the way this brand is able to make the cluster of notes hang on to the skin longer than most mass-produced fragrances, as she puts it, ones you find in Bloomingdales. For this one, the dry down is a morph of rich feminine floral blossom with a touch of musk and it lasts for hours, not so much where it enters a room before you do, but more in that anyone in your intimate space will probably get a light whiff of it, which is how perfume should be.

Juliette-Has-A-Gun-RomantinaThis one’s story is described as:

“For this new episode, I wanted to bring a hint of frivolity into Juliette’s life. Romantina is a modern tale, as refreshing as an afternoon at the café of a Roman piazzetta. First floral fragrance of Juliette has a Gun’s collection, its gentleness is only an appearance. Lifted by a touch of Patchouli, Romantina is a comtemporary [sic] romance where once again, Juliette will get the last word. Romano Ricci"

It contains notes of musk, orange blossom, vanilla from Madagascar as well as jasmine, lily of the valley, rose, iris, osmanthus and vetiver. $110/3.3oz, $85/1.7oz @ or try a sample of it like I did for $3 @

Review & Swatches - Shiseido Lacquer Rouge

I’ve really come to love SHISEIDO’s lippies and totally think they’re underrated. The brand really seems to think of every detail when it not only comes to the actual lip product but the packaging details like the container, the brush, and the latest is called Lacquer Rouge ($25 @

Fall Cheek Pick – NARS Blush in Outlaw

NARS blushes are some of my favorites and at first look, this Outlaw colored Blush from the NARS Fall 2012 Collection looks like it could be a little difficult to work with if you are heavy handed like I am.

Fall Scent Pick – INeKE Sweet William Eau de Parfum

INeke-Sweet-William-eau-de-parfumReady ... SWITCH!! As in, switch perfumes! The new season is upon us and it’s time to put your light, airy scents at the back. New some new recommendations? I’ve have a few I’ve been trying out and have some hot off the presses ones for you to consider.

One at the top of my list that has Fall written all over it was created exclusively for the Anthropologie stores as part of their Curiosities Perfume Collection, it’s Sweet William from San Francisco-based perfume house, INeKE, and yes, it does have some association with the royal couple. Kate Middleton included it in her bridal bouquet. How cool is that!?

This eau de parfum soliflore (a fragrances replicating the scent of a single flower and yes, I had to look this word up), is described as,  opens with a peach note, then warmed with cinnamon, clove and cumin essential oils. The dominant wood notes are a blend of cedarwood, sandalwood and patchouli, softened with Bourbon vanilla. You really have to smell it to appreciate the depth of this one. Big recommendation but I am so into it right now and officially ready for fall. $68/2.5oz @

And you can, as right now they are running a contest to win a 2.5oz bottle here. Hurry as it ends on 9/17!

Scunci's New Flower Bendini

Scunci-Bendini-flower-clipI always make a b-line for the hair accessories section in CVS to see if they have anything new out anytime I have to venture in. And SCÜNCI is one of the first investigations. Recently, they expanded their Bendini Hair Clips to include flowers on them. While I’m not too impressed by the color selection (too many pastels), these combs hold like the dickens in the hair, so I’m looking to see if they expand the color selection with these for fall. $5 @ CVS/pharmacy nationwide.

Fall Face Corrector Pick - Benefit Perk Up Artist

Benefit-Cosmetics-Perk-Up-ArtistLoving BENEFIT’s new Perk Up Artist – Custom Complexion Correctors. It’s three products in one compact – Correct for any discoloration with this yellow neutralizer, Cover for dark circles and blemishes and Brighten for pink perk up like around eyes.

And I love the handy duo brush and instructions that come with it, the latter showing how to get the most out of each shade.

But tell me Benefit, who is the dude on the front of the box and compact? Is the model this famous drummer? $30 @
