This Week in Lips
NARS just came out with five limited edition Lip Glosses this week that are all named after their blushes. From L to R: Albatross (luminous glow), Angelika (cotton candy pink w/gold and silver sparkle), Oasis (pink champagne), Super Orgasm (peachy pink w/gold glitter), Luster (sheer golden apricot).
Overall, these are all pretty sheer but I’m feeling some of the more colored ones like Oasis and Super Orgasm. Wear alone or over lipstick! $24 only @ Sephora and sephora.com.

LUSH Turkish Delight Isn't Candy
This
Turkish Delight from LUSH has really thrown me (I vaguely remember the candy,
btw). They call it a Body Polish but it’s more of a glorified soap or body wash
and I didn’t feel any granules in it nor did I see any exfoliating ingredients,
except salt about half way down. Hmmm. It kind of reminds me of this one
because it is a solid milky, pink in this case, color and not at all like the
texture I am used to from a body polish. It kind of looks like a shiny cake
frosting! Anyway, the first ingredient in this is rose water and mmm, what a
great scent that is! I have had this one sitting on my desk for about 1 week
now to write up and everytime I see it, I have to open and get a sniff!
It’s
soap-based and is also made with jasmine, almond oil and cocoa butter among
others. $29.95/7oz @ lush.com.
And
don’t forget about their recycling program – bring back 5 black pots (like this
one comes in) and get a free fresh face mask.

Have You Tried Kim Kardashian's Fragrance Yet?
There
are just some celebs I want to see in person. Pam Anderson is one, the late
Anna Nicole Smith was another and Kim Kardashian is a third. I guess the
closest I can get to the latter one right now is by trying her fragrance. I’m
not really one for the celeb fragrance route as there are just too many to
begin with, don’tcha
think? And I don’t quite see how being a celebrity helps
them put out a great scent besides maybe giving them access to really great
chemists. But I do have to give kudos where they are due and the KIM KARDASHIAN
Eau de Parfum gets some from me. It came out earlier this year, so I ‘m a bit
late in coming to the party but better late than never, right?
She
developed the scent with Lighthouse Beauty Marketing they worked together to
capture Kim’s sexy sultry side by including notes like orange blossom, pink jasmine,
tuberose and gardenia and then to rep her softer side, they include a sensual
base of Tonka bean, musk, jacaranda wood and sandalwood.
And
as far as the bottle goes, I think they hit it right on the head, the
translucent black bottle with pink pearl overspray and shape really make me
think of Kim! I would recommend this one for night use only as it’s a little
heavy for day. $50/1.7oz, $65/3.4oz @ sephora.com.

Essie Summer 2010 Collection
Going
from this one to ESSIE’s Summer 2010 Collection of Nail Polishes is about as much night and day
as you can get. This year’s runways reflected the ease of the season with
youthful, upbeat clothing in feminine fabrics … inspired by vivid pastels at Versace and the splashy florals at DKNY,
(Essie created) the collection was created to reflect the youthful, fun-to-wear
flirty frocks.” I think this could have been just another collection without
the Pretty Edgy shade. It really help tie all the colors together beautifully.
Color picks from L to R: Demure Vixen (iridescent cocoa mauve), Haute As Hello (racy, scorching coral), and Pretty Edgy (vivid palmetto green). $8 @ essie.com.

Crabtree & Evelyn Put Out Some Winning Scents
I’m
on a big-time scent kick these days. Between candles and fragrances, I don’t
know which I am more obsessed with right now! The CRABTREE & EVELYN line
just came out with two new fragrances, Carleon Cove and Isla Glen. Both come in three different forms listed below and out of the two, I think the Carleon Cove is the most fitting for the season. They call it a floral marine scent and it
contains notes of leafy greens, wild sea flowers and violet (can totally smell
the violet!) and sandalwood.
And
just for the record, I’d wear this Carleon Cove as a perfume. And this isn’t
the first time I have declared something like this!
Room
Fragrance - $15/3.4oz
Fragrance
Diffuser - $35/6.5oz
Poured
Candle $28/40 hours
All @ crabtree-evelyln.com.

June Jacobs Vanda Orchid Collection
I
find myself wanting to know what’s inside the products I’m using. Take the new
Vanda Orchid line from JUNE JACOBS. I tried the Vanda Orchid Body Balm
($60/7oz) and the Vanda Orchid Shower Gel ($35/7oz) and I really liked both (both @ junejacobs.com).
They smelled heavenly and worked well. The Vanda Orchid is native to Northern
Australia and Eastern Asia and is one of the rarest forms. The extract from the
flower contains high levels of anti-oxidants and fortifying minerals. But with these
two, I really wanted to get down to the nitty-gritty.
