In the sea of beauty products out there, they have to have hype or they will float down the river with no sales. One that I had read about over and over but just didn’t want to believe the hype until now was SMITH’S Rosebud Salve. I picked it up as an impulse buy when I was getting some new glass nail files at Sephora a few weeks ago, and wow, it has totally become by goto balm. It’s made with Cottonseed Oil, essential oils and a really great light rose scent. In addition to lips, people also use it for cuticles, frizzy hair, brow hairs and more! Big recommendation. $6 @ sephora.com.

It’s full-on fireplace season and I don’t have one! Wah! This doesn’t full on replace it but a warmly scented candle seems to at least get the idea up and running. One I am loving right now is SPACE NK’s new NK Candles in the Wild Iris ($60/9.5oz @ spacenk.com) scent. It combines jasmine, rose, peony and muguet. Really unique! And each candle is hand poured and uses essential oils to delight your nose.

Now here’s a brand you probably should pay attention to if you are in the market for the latest in anti-aging. It comes from a new line called SUNDAY RILEY and what sets it apart from other lines is their NV-5 Ageless Complex. It’s 5 key Native American Botanicals: Blue Agave, Night Blooming Cactus, Lady’s Slipper Orchid, Prickly Pear and Biofermented Aloe plus Yeast extract. This combo claims to deeply detoxify the skin and repair cellular damage.

Ms. Riley first became interested in this when he grandmother spent the summers teaching her how to apply certain Native American Botanicals. Years later, using her background in science, she decided to create a line around the complex and spent 2 years developing products you see today.

The product I was sent to try in the line was the Skin Adrenaline Anti-Aging Concentrate ($185/1.7oz @ sundayriley.com and barneys.com). This is a good one to try if you are looking for a kick to the overall radiance of your skin, while getting the latest in helping it to stay young. In addition to the NV-5 Complex, this one also contains ingredients to build collagen, increase elasticity and to firm the skin. So basically all the things we look for in an anti-aging product.

We’re definitely on the brink of a new hair trend – oils, as in, using nourishing oils to keep hair healthy and here's a new one to sink your teeth, or rather strands, into. 

MACADAMIA NATURAL OIL’s Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment ($36/1.5oz, $6/.35oz @ macadamiahair.com) is taking center stage of this feature. The line came out this month and I really think it;s going to be garnering quite a few accolades.

What it is: combo of Macadamia Oil, Argan Seed Oil and special botanicals.

How it’s used: 1 to 2 pumps in damp hair or dry hair and even as an added nourishing kick in most hair treatments like coloring. This one will also help with frizz and UV protection. Big recommendation!

How do you apply your smoky? It’s totally become a beauty look staple so you better get it down. If you’ve done it for a while, you probably use a few different single shadows or duos but this new Black Smoke Eyeshadow Quad from ESTEE LAUDER’s Blacker than Black collection houses all the four perfect shades for a dark smoky look. $35 @ esteelauder.com.

Can’t quite get the technique down? Try COVERGIRL Smoky Shadow Blast in Onyx ($8.49 @ drugstore.com) has me tickled with delight. It’s so easy to make eyes smoky sexy with this stick – one side for all over the lid and the other to accent and smudge just so.

L’OREAL Infallible Plumping Lip Gloss in Plumped Tawny ($9.99 @ drugstore.com) is a tawny beige with just the slightest iridescent glimmer and has become my goto gloss when making my eyes the center of my look. 

I tried some of these w/o the plumping when they came out and this new one contains a plumper that they say you will feel the tingling when applied. I didn’t feel anything nor did I notice any plumping. I was looking to this for color only and that’s what I got, which is fine with me!

And I gotta say, with all the crappy stiff, low quality, applicators out there, these angled heart-shaped ones are really pleasant. Thanks for the extra step, L’Oreal.

I’m into the salts right now and making the water as soft and nourishing as possible. Here’s two that are filling my tub.

For some reason, when I’m in the supermarket and come across a can of baked beans, which I love, I always go for the vegan kind because in my mind, it will have less bad stuff for you inside. Is this true? Probably not but I can’t seem to shake this conclusion just short of sitting down with a vegan and non-vegan version in my hands and comparing ingredients. I’ll do that someday.
