| Dermatologist Heidi Waldorf explains how to treat discoloration, breakouts and your last (hopefully!) sunburn of the summer |
| According to Waldorf, "pigmentation and acne" are the two most prominent skin issues women face at the end of the summer. Here she explains how you can erase these signs of summer and more with the help of over-the-counter products, prescription creams and in-office treatments. Follow this advice and you'll say hello to fall with gorgeous, glowing, spot-free skin. |

Does Lancome Have the Fall's It Nail Color?
Let's look at fall nails really quick – how beautiful is LANCOME's new Le Vernis Nail Polish in Indigo Paris from the Declaring Indigo Fall Collection? I'm not that into blue but this one is just gorgeous! It's a deep rich sorta metallic blue with shimmer. Could this be the Fall's It color? Leave your thoughts in the comments! $18 @ lancome.com.
MUD Makes Makeup Go Bye-Bye.
What's not to love about anything that can be used on the go, especially if it's going to freshen the skin up? August here in LA has been pretty hot and sticky so these MAKE-UP DESIGNORY (MUD)'s Makeup Remover Wipes ($18/40 wipes @ mudshop.com) have been a staple in my oversized purse all month. Each moist towelette not only contains cleansing ingredients but olive oil and vitamin E. And who better to test them out to the max then their New York and Los Angeles based makeup schools? They just gotta work well at removing makeup and dirt, right?
Got Frizz? Redken's Got Your Remedy.
I don’t think the trend of stick straight hair will ever go out of style or if it does, it will only be temporary. Since it’s seen as somewhat luxe or high brow, products and treatments have been created for the average woman to use to achieve it. One permanent one that not only does away frizz but leaves straight strands in its wake is the Brazilian Hair Treatment. I'm due to have it done to my hair in the next month so in the meantime, REDKEN’s Straight products are doing a great job at keeping the frizz at bay and the hair straight.
The four products in this Straight Collection each contain their Straight-Out Complex, which is a strengthening protein of nourishing oils like coconut and olive. I’ve been out of touch with Redken’s styling products so here’s a quick tutorial on how they break it down:
There are five end result collections: Straight, Shine, Volume, Texture and Curl. Two specialty collections, Heat Styling and Hair Sprays and lastly one alternative collection called Urban Experiment.
In each collection, you decide the hold: Mild, Medium, or Maximum.
Since we are just focusing on the Straight Collection, let’s pick some favorites already and again, you can pick the right one for your hair type.
From L to R:
- Sheer Straight 06 Lightweight Straightening Gel for Fine Hair (15/3.4oz)
- Align 12 Protective Straightening Lotion for Medium Hair ($16/5oz)
- Power Tame 16 Intense Straightening Balm for Course Hair($16/5oz)
All @ redken.com for salon near you.
Primer Passion With Make Up For Ever, Pixi and Urban Decay
So many face and makeup primers to talk about these days! The lines are adding them as a staples at what seems like lightening speeds so here are some that do their thing beautifully.
From L to R:
MAKE UP FOR EVER new UV Prime SPF 50/PA+++
($30 @ sephora.com)
– SPF in makeup primer is unheard of until now. Think of this as the
Prius of primers – part sunscreen, part primer.
PIXI
BEAUTY Eye Bright Primer ($18 @ pixibeauty.com)
– nude in color and recommended if you tend to have oily lids.
URBAN DECAY new Complexion Primer Potion – Pore Perfecting ($30 @ sephora.com) – matte formula that uses silicone to fill in lines and pores. Like their cult favorite Eye Shadow Primer Potion? Give this a try.
Bath & Body Works American Grown Collection
I’ve
been contemplating an on-going feature for the past few weeks called, “Scents
that Rock,” and I don’t mean perfumes. These Hand Soaps from BATH & BODY
WORKS’ new American Grown Collection would for sure be the first feature. They
smell so amazing! I think I wash my hands just so I can get a whiff. And they
are in a huge squoval 16oz container and a little squirt gives a lot of later
so just one will last you a while.
And
though we don’t post sales here, I just have to tell you that on their site
right now, they have a buy-one-get-one-free sale going on so get over to
bathandbodyworks.com to get yours. And each scent also comes in a huge 24oz
Shower Gel for $12.50. To me, this is a bargain so I’m also filing this under Budget Beauty.
So
what do you think of an on-going feature that focuses on great smelling bath
and body products? I figured the title Scents that Rock would be fitting. Let
me know in the comments if you are as into great smelling body products as I am
and what your favorites are.
Degree Clinical Has Got Your Covered
Anyways,
choose from three scents – Shower Clean, Sheer Powder or Classic Romance.
Darac Beauty Is Back With A Threesome
We thought DARAC BEAUTY was a one-hit wonder but they seem to be back and in a big way with this Brow Trio ($22 @ daracbeauty.com). There seems to be something different about using the color at an angle vs the stick I have become used to, which is a pencil. The slant seems to give a much more realistic finish. Could I just be imagining this? And this color is perfect for my medium brown hair.
On the other side of this stick you have the spooly to work the color into the brows and yes, there’s more to this then just the color and spooly! Twist the middle and you have an eye brightening powder to use in the corner of the eyes or under the brows to make them pop and you can also give your cupids bow a swipe. Now that’s making use of space!
