Here’s a new line of skin care just launched this past fall for us to check out. It’s called EN POINTE SKIN SOLUTIONS and was created by a plastic surgeon (Dr. Christine Rodgers) and each product was formulated to address the leading skin stressors in our lives like fine lines, skin pigmenations and redness. Dr. Christine’s love of dance helped get her through her own battle with breast cancer and each product dons the pink color and unique ballet dance names. To help conquer aging, each contains the line’s signature ingredient, Bio-Energy Complex, which comes from nourishing botanicals. My pick of the 11-product line has to be the Pirouette Bamboo Microderm ($45/6oz), which uses bamboo beads and sugar to exfoliate and contains aloe vera gel, algae extract, and green tea extract. The other favorite of the line so far is the Fouette Firming Moisturizer ($85/1oz), which contains that Bio-Energy Complex to slow the aging process and also skin rejuvenating peptides. Coffee. Most love it. I didn’t up until recently. I have no idea what came over me. While I’ve always loved the smell of coffee beans, I just didn’t like the taste. My only prior experience with coffee was when I was about 14 and I tried some at about 3pm and there was only about 1/2 “ left in the cup. You can pretty much imagine my reaction. Not even a few Doritos would wipe away that taste in my mouth. Fast forward to 2 months ago. While I’ve been in Starbucks quite a few times, I just never wanted to order anything until one day, when with a friend, I ordered the Vanilla Soy Latte. Wow, now I am a full convert and even have my own personal french press machine at home! So when this ASPARA AROMATICS Kopi Scrub ($18/10oz @ aspara-aromatics.com) came across my desk recently, I immediately opened it and inhaled deeply. Mmmm. This one uses Sumatra coffee grounds from Indonesia and a blend of salts, Shea Butter and plant oils. If you’re trying to cut down on your coffee consumption, maybe a full on scrub with this one will do the trick!

I’m sure it’s colder where you are then where I am in Los Angeles but the air out here still has a nip in it most nights! So make sure you adjust your skin care products during these colder months as you want to make sure it has the right level of moisture. Give your skin a one-two punch with two from the LIZ EARLE line. 

Superskin Concentrate ($70/1.6oz) – is comprised of 100% pure plant oils including argan oil, which is known as the ‘gold of Morocco.’ Use this one under your moisturizer at night on the face, neck and decolletage.

Like Italy and all things Italian? Then TOVA’s Ambre D’Oro Eau de Parfum might just be fore you. We're in love with her signature scent and this is the latest addition to her line and it's her fifth. It’s inspired by Italy and all things … bella! This is described as a musky-floral and since most perfume lovers need the exact notes to know if they will mix with a scent, here they are:

Top: Sicilian lemon, Peony Peregrina mixed with Asiatic Lily and Plum Blossom.

Many moons ago, I thought all hairsprays were the same. Wrong! I’ve come across some icky ones that not only left residue behind but either faded quickly or worked too well at holding. Here’s a few that get high marks from us. From L to R:

We were going to include MAKE UP FOR EVER’s Aqua Eyes Collection ($35 @ sephora.com) in our gift picks but I really don’t think these colors are for the novice. Or maybe we should have recommended it for the makeup pro in your life. Either way, we love each of these colors and even I was a little intimidated by them at first sight. So line one on your lids and just be sure to smudge the line a little so you don’t get too much of a pop and end up looking a little clownish. But act quick because it sets in 30 seconds. And like the name says, their waterproof, so have yerself a good cry or go splash around in an indoor pool.
