Benefit Cosmetics Is You ... Just Better

Benefit-Cosmetics-Full-Finish-Lipstick There’s certain items we are always on the hunt for. For me, it’s a good basic black t-shrit, the perfect pair of jeans and the ideal nude lipstick. I’ve found good ones here and there but this one seems to be filling the void for right now. BENEFiT COSMETICS Full-Finish Lipstick in Lady’s Choice ($18 @ benefitcosmetics.com) gives lips a YLLB finish. Need a little more? The vibrant red of Flirt Alert should do the trick.

Archipelago Reminds You to Stay Aware

Archipelago-Ribbons-of-Love How aware are you? Are you doing your monthly self exams? October is you-know-what-month and we don’t believe in just being aware one month out of the year. It should be every month. That’s why I we are picking this candle to remind us to do our exams. ARCHiPELAGO BOTANICALS ‘Ribbons of Love’ Candle ($29/9.5oz @ nordstrom.com) smells delightful of pink grapefruit, clemetine and pomelo (a Chinese grapefruit) and is blended with 50% soy wax. And with 60 hours of burn time, I will nurse this for months to come.

Have You Declared Your Signature Scent?

Tova Read this and then go and stand in front of where you keep all your fragrances. Look at them closely and think about each one and ask yourself, “Does this fragrance stand the test of time?” For me, TOVA Signature Eau de Parfum Spray ($43.80/3.3oz @ qvc.com) is one that does. It’s a blend of bergamot citrus, jasmine, lavender on a base of sandalwood and musk. It really is a great choice for a signature fragrance. Now I have been wearing this one for the past 10 years or so and they just re-packaged the scent last year and the reviews on qvc, where it is sold exclusively, have not been that favorable. See, the fragrance is made with 28.5% essential oils so this one lasts on the skin but I guess the new blend does not last and it’s just not the same. I wonder what changed? Maybe it needs to be layered with something like her Signture Smoothing Body Balm ($24.98/4.2oz), which is how I have been wearing it. Or with the signature lotion or body wash. Care to share with us what your signature fragrance is? Let us know in the comments!

What Does Lush Have Up Their Sleeves?

LUSH never seems to disappoint. I got my grubbies on the two latest products from the line and here’s the breakdown.

0

Lush Yummy Yummy Yummy Shower Gel – the first ingredient listed is strawberries. Strawberries!! Also contains honey, almond oil, olibanum oil (also known as Frankincense), and surprisingly balsamic vinegar. Can’t smell that one though. It’s just smells like a sweet combo of strawberries and jasmine.

Rub Rub Rub Shower Gel – infused with sea salt, though it feels like very fine sugar, this one contains lemon juice, jasmine flower and mimosa. So this one gives you a little exfoliation while cleansing. Truly delightful!

Note that these both contain Sodium Laureth Sulfate so if you are sensitive to it, I would forgo these two.

$23.95/16.9oz each @ lush.com

Make It Last With A Face Primer

I recently took an impromptu poll of 10 women to see how many of them are incorporating a face primer into their daily routines. The results? Out of 10, 4 are using one. Hmmmm, not as many as I thought but maybe the trend is just taking a few to get to everyone. A primer does a few things: fills in wrinkles to create a seemless application for your foundation, helps makeup last longer than normal and can help correct something on the face like rosacea. Try any of the below for super smooth results.

Sephora-Mally-Beauty-Redpoint-Makeup-Forever

SEPHORA "Tricks of the Trade" Immediate Wrinkle Filler ($20/.42oz @ sephora.com)

MALLY BEAUTY Perfect Prep Primer ($35 @ qvc.com)

REDPOINT Age MInimizer Line Filler ($38/1oz @ redpointbeauty.com)

MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Microperfecting Primer ($32/1oz @ sephora.com)
