DiOR is coming out with a 4-unit anti-aging line to be sold exclusively at Macys stores starting this weekend. Capture R 60/80 XP targets women 35 and over and is based on their Stemsome technology.

DOLCE & GABBANA will be launching The One for Men in March 2008.

These thumb-sized balms may not look like much but I’m a convert. These PRADA Shielding Balms SPF 15 Lip/Tint ($38/10 size .05 tubes @ neimanmarcus.com) are smoothest lippies I have ever tried and they really stay put! I should have known that if a big fashion house was going to get into this category, they would only do it if they could do it right. No wonder all the mags have raved about these. Big recommendation. 

Hot Hair Picks

Short? Long? Frizz creeps up on all of us. The Matrix hair company did some research and found that 87% of consumers use heat tools to style their strands. 87%! So make sure you use protection.

The experts at JOHN FRiEDA are only improving their cult Frizz-Ease by introducing a new addition, Frizz-Ease Thermal Protection Formula ($9.99/1.69oz @ drugstore.com). If you regularly use a blow dryer or straightening iron, this one should be in your bathroom, as it does double-duty – controls frizz by putting a barrier between your hair and those hot styling products.

Sprays that protect your hair before styling are like makeup primers, they are really becoming a staple in my daily regime that I never knew I really needed. Made for medium to course hair types, this one not only protects against heat but really made my hair soft and shiny.

Holiday Pick - Get It While It Lasts!

100. There are only 100 of the LiPSTiCK QUEEN’s Poppy’s Purse ($75 @ barneys.com) available. 100 sets to be spread out between all of the Barneys stores. Poppy collaborated with Katherine King to produce this cute red and black 4 1/4" x 3 1/2" cloth tote. Inside are two signature lipsticks, Saint Red and Red Sinner. Yowza! Give something no one else will give her.

Holiday Pick - Bathing Beauty

From the SPACE NK 2007 Bath and Body Holiday Collection is our pick, the Ultimate Experience ($70 @ spacenk.com). This is for the categorical diva in your life. Each keepsake box was inspired by colorful Japanese kimonos and contains an Eau de Toilette Spray (.5oz), Body Wash (1.69oz), Body Balm (1.69oz), Bath Oil (1.69oz), Travel Candle, 2/1oz Bath Tablets and Soap (1.75oz). Each kit comes in their five different scents and our pick is the Enrapture. Peach Kernal, coconut blended with tuberose, ylang ylang, black currant and orange blossom. So soothing and unique.

Can I Get One To Go, Please?

Well we’ve seen the loose mineral eye shadow and pressed mineral eye shadow, but this is a first. Mineral eye shadow with a wand in a portable case! PHYSiCiANS FORMULA came up with this cool trick. Not only is there no mess with the sponge applicator wand of these new Mineral Wear Talc-Free Mineral Fluid Powder Eye Shadow ($6.95 @ physiciansformula.com) but the powders are encapsulated in mineral water and they have a cooling effect when applied to the eye. Check out the six colors available and my favorites are Amethyst and Plum Garnet. These are so “mess free” that you can even apply these in the car if you are really rushed, but no driving while applying. I am loving this innovation and the price is right too! ~Lisa

MALLY BEAUTY New Naturals Midnight Lip Gloss ($15 @ qvc.com) is a new kind of gloss to me. It gives you the rich pigment of a lipstick with the shine of a gloss. And the three colors, Clementine, Raisin and Sweet Plum, are all very wearable and will probably suit most skin tones.

Stylin' Locks

SPORNETTE makes some of my favorite brushes. Their new collection of Coco Tourmaline Nylon and Boar Bristle brushes do double duty. Part of getting in the mood for the season is not just visual. It is also … nosial. Scents pay a very important roll at this time more than any other time on the calendar. Here's one that really puts us in a festive mood.

SLATKiN & CO ScentPort Fragrance Scent Diffuser ($12.50 for portal, $12.50 for refills @ bathandbodyworks.com) has 8 new scents for you to stick in the wall and forget about. And this one is strong! Everytime I walk into the livingroom I am greeted by the scent from Cinnamon and Clove Buds and the kitchen says hello with Orange Nector. Happy nose!

Holiday Pick - Got Big?

For this season, it seems that bigger is better. SMASHBOX Light Wave Fusion Bronzing Powder & Brush ($49 @ smashbox.com) from their Beyond Beauty Holiday collection is one BIG case of bronzer (4 ½” around) and one BIG brush (3 ½” x 2”). The powder is 3 shades of silky powder called Light Wave and it smells vaguely of pina colada. Apply with the Fan Brush and hit the party.

Holiday Pick - One for the Men

Why miss big time with your man? You can’t when it comes to soap. They all use it and need it. One mine will be getting this year is MiSTRAL Men’s Bar Soap in Cedarwood Marine ($14/8.8oz @ mistralsoap.com). It’s a triple milled quality soap made with Shea Butter, and extracts of Green Coffee and White Ginseng. And the fragrance of this one? All man! Cedar wood, eucalyptus, amber and forest.

Holiday Pick - Bag It!

File this one under, “I don’t know what to get her!” I am in love with CRiS NOTTI’s Red Parade print! How much do the colors on this one pop? And this one is durable. The print is protected by plastic so it won’t get dirty or damaged when traveling. My pick of the bunch is the 8" x 4½" x 2" Double Clutch ($45 @ crisnotti.com) but you really can’t lose no matter which size you choose.

Build Me A Face

Anything I can build on my own is a big plus in my book and that includes makeup. On my quest to really learn the art of sculpting my cheeks, this next one really helps make me stunning. GENiE BEAUTY Make Me Blush All-Over Face Color ($20 @ geniebeauty.com) is one of those “looks darker in the packaging then it really is” type products. So don’t be scared! The medium brown looks like it would only be good for certain tones but I tried it on three different friends (thanks Stacy, Rebecca and Melissa) and the cream gave each a boost. The mineral-based formula does not contain any shimmer, glitter or gloss and as I mentioned above, the color is totally build-able. Apply a swipe on the apples of cheeks and a little more under the cheekbones to really bring them out. The color can also be used on lips and lids.

Field Of Poppys

These SKiN AN APOTHECARY products smell and feel so good, they make me dream of lying down in a field of poppies, or at least a bathtub full! They've totally won me over with their Soy Body Wash in the addicting Poppy fragrance ($15/16oz). And, being the scrubbing junkie that I am, the Poppy Sugar Glow ($21/16oz) takes front and center in my shower this week. It’s full of wonderful hydrating oils and when you use both of these, don’t be surprised if you find it difficult to get out of the shower! But the Poppy Body Whip ($25/16oz) should help you jump out.
When you can still smell a fragrance in your bathroom at the end of the day, you know it’s a keeper. I’m addicted, so I guess I’ll have to try their many other fragrances. All @ skinanapothecary.com ~Lisa

Red, Red Lips

This is our last installment of Red, Red Lips and we have some serious ones on this list. Just do me one favor when it comes to red lipsticks, don’t let the look in the tube deceive you from trying what could be, your perfect shade!

1. NARS Lipstick - Jungle Red ($23 @ narscosmetics.com) – this is one bright red! It’s matte and very pigmented.
2. MAC new Mattene Lipstick - Your Say Tomato ($14.50 @ maccosmetics.com) – semi-matte bright orange-red. For the experienced only!
3. SHiSEiDO The Makeup Perfecting Lipstick - Red Luxe ($22 @ sephora.com) – you need sunglasses when you put this shade on. Bright and creamy. Proceed with caution.
4. DiANNE BRiLL COSMETiCS Lip Lingerie Lipstick - Cuban Heel ($28 @ beautyhabit.com) – when I think of this line, I think of this rich cocoa red. Deeply pigmented and it’s one of those that is lighter red on lips than it appears.
5. URBAN APOTHECARY Big Fat Kiss - Smirk ($20 @ urbanapothecary.com) – part gloss part lipstick. This is a warm glossy red that will make your lips look wet.
6. SCOTT BARNES Lip Suede - Crystal ($24 @ scottbarnes.com) – thick and rich pigment. Scott doesn’t mess around with sheers. This is a serious girls’ red lipstick.
7. OPI Lip Color - St. Petersburgundy ($10 @ amazon.com) – this is a deep burgundy red, like a shade you see on a model in a magazine. Pair with a pearl necklace and your look is ready.
8. TRiSH McEVOY Flawless Lip Sheer Lip Liner – Rouge ($20 @ nordstrom.com) – for perfect precision with any red, use a pencil to line. This rosy red is not too dry or oily and it stays put.
9. LiPSTiCK QUEEN Lipstick - Rouge Sinner ($18 @ lipstickqueen.com) – "all pigment and no shimmer or frost" is their tag line. This is a serious dark red.
10. SHU UEMURA Rouge Unlimited Red Collection - #195 ($23 @ shuuemura.com) – they are so confident about their formula for red, they came out with a whole collection of them. This one is silky and on the sheerer side.
11. SUKI COLOR Pure Cream Stain - Vermillion ($36.50 @ sukipure.com) – this glass pot is filled with pure deep burgundy wine pigment. Swipe this creamy mineral color on lips, cheeks, everywhere. Very sheer.

We know that not every red will fit every person so Linda, one of our faithful readers, has a suggestion for those with lips on the thin side or if you are over 40. “I found two from GARDEN BOTANIKA that are sheer and glossy and give my lips a deep red hue. The colors are Vitamin E Lip Tint’s Rhubarb and Black Raspberry Volumizing Lipstick. Despite the names they look red on my lips.” Thanks Linda!

Mask O' the Month

I got so much more than I ever dreamed I would the first time I tried this is a super star at home mask. MALiN + GOETZ new Detox Face Mask ($38/4oz @ malinandgoetz.com) not only produced timely results but the smell of the natural almond extract calmed me immediately. The thick formula feels good going on the skin and afterwards it felt firmer, smoother, lifted and plumper! What a great way to try out eye shadows from CARGO! This cute ColorCards ($24 @ sephora.com) invention is like a deck of cards in a tin. Each deck has 28 of their shadows, one on each card. Tuck the whole tin in your bag or slide a few cards in your purse to spruce up your lids before dinner. Application brush not included.

A Dash O' Glitter

ViCTORiA’S SECRET just put out the Heidi Collection and each product is all about glamour. There are four products in all and they are limited edition so get ‘em while their hot. Here are our picks:

Perfect Lipstick in Heidi ($12) is a nude with tons of finely miller glitter. Never have I seen so much in or on a lipstick and it still looks really good on lips and not clowny. The lipstick itself looked so beautiful in the case, I almost didn’t want to try it.
The Glitter Liquid Liner in Bang ($10) is bronzy glitter in a clear liquid so wear it by itself on lids or layer it over another liner for a little more umph! All @ victoriassecret.com

Shu Your Hair

SHU UEMURA just came out with the Art of Hair line. And if they do hair care like they do cosmetics, we’ll be in for a treat. The Full Shimmer Illuminating Shampoo ($40/10oz) and Full Shimmer Illuminating Conditioner ($50/8.5oz) are made for color treated strands (that’s me!) and each contains Rose Musk Oil, which is rich in anti-oxidants. These really gave my color a slight kick and didn’t leave my strands dried out. And the touch of rose scent is really soothing.

And I am also recommending their new Iron Design Protective Thermal Spray ($30/5oz) that is sprayed on before blow drying. All @ 866-914-8750

Bathing Luxury

We previewed the LiSA HOFFMAN back in June and was finally able to try some. Since we are such bath girls, the Bath Soak ($35/4oz @ lisahoffman.com) from the Spa Bath line really jump out at me. This is a bath product for sophisticated adults. Not snobby adults, just grown up. It contains natural botanicals like the Star of Madagascar Orchid, Acai Oil and Bamboo and Hawaiian White Honey Extract, to name a few. Subtle luxury.

Fall Color Pick - Mauve

Think purple is too much for some occasions? Then try its cousin Mauve. In addition to purple wine, green moss, and nude shimmer, mauve is kicking up quite a storm in fashion this fall.
