Face Technology

SmashboxesSMASHBOX has got your face covered. For foundation, that is. Liquid or powder, these two will give you a flawless complexion. And they are both good for skin!

I’m not one for a liquid these days because they tend to feel heavy but I am floored by this High Definition Healthy FX Foundation ($38). It almost feels like I am not wearing any foundation as it simply sinks in the skin. Here’s the benefits: is oil absorbing, contains anti-aging ingredients, SPF 15, a unique patented moisture time-release system and a new skin cell-energizing ingredient, Ribose. I didn’t know my cells needed re-energizing but I guess they do in order to keep me looking young.
Top your look off with their Function 5 Self-Adjusting Powder Foundation ($36). It’s five kinds of powders in one! Here we go again: non-drying, oil absorbing, contains vitamins A, C, B5 and E, helps calm redness associated with Rosacea, and you can build the coverage you want. Available in six shades. Beauty That Doesn't Break The Bank

DeluxeduoThe mission of the DE-LUXE line is quality at affordable prices. I have a few of their products here to try out and the first ones that jumped out at me were the Shea Butter ones. Shea Butter is one of nature’s most prized commodities because of its natural antioxidants and it’s high in vitamins A and E. The Shea Butter Hand Cream ($7.99/5oz) and 100% Pure Shea Butter ($9.99/3.4oz) are not only affordable but very good quality products. It may take a few to really work these creams into the skin, but the end result is worth it. And the light scent is heavenly. I can't stop smelling my arms! These are both highly recommended so treat your skin today. Both @ drugstore.com

Love Your Body, Now Love Your Hair

I swear styling products should be by prescription only. I gotta find me a class or something – Hair Styling 101. I just can’t seem to ever get it the way I want! But when it comes to cleaning, DOVE keeps it real, as in real women, as we’ve seen. I’m impressed that they have taken this stance and now they are going one step further and into the hair territory. We all want Hollywood Hair but as this video shows, it takes a lot of time and money and frankly, it’s pretty unrealistic. I think I’ll just stick with giving it my best shot.

DovesOne thing I think I have a good grip on is shampoos and conditioners. DOVE Cool Moisture Shampoo and Cool Moisture Conditioner, both in the Cucumber & Green Tea scent, are very gentle to the hair and that smell, I can’t get enough. This duo is not for those who color treat their strands. $7.99/25.4oz each @ drugstore.com

Have a little extra time on your hands? Appellation Grapeseed Clay Facial Mask ($26.50/4oz) is a nice one to wear while in the tub. It firms, detoxifies and unclogs pores using crushed grape seeds.

Fall Color Pick - Mossy Green

I consider greens, as in mossy greens, a very neutral color. They are so earthy, warm and natural that they could take the place of nudes in most cases. Olive, tarragon, and the creatively named products below, all make up our 2nd Fall Color Pick, Mossy Green.
The way I’m thinking about this piece is if I were to paint a picture of moss using different shades and textures, which ones would I use? Here are our picks to make up our portrait:

Bath Season Is On!

Spacenktabs_2Laughter, Soulful, Compelling, Enrapture – all these glorious words make up the bath items in the SPACE NK collection. The UK store just landed in New York and they carry the best lines in the world, well almost. Seeing a gap, they put out their own products and wow, would these make great gifts! Each is not only pleasing to the eye but also the nose. The packaging is quality and the products inside are delightfully rich.
Each above name comes in the following forms: Bath Tablets ($28/4 tabs), Hand Lotion ($28/8oz), Bath Oil ($40/8oz), Body Balm ($30/8oz), Body Wash ($28/8oz), Hand Wash ($24/8oz), Guest Soap Collection ($25/4 soaps), Body Cream ($65/10oz). Where Have You Been All My Life?

Bedhead2This product comes under the category of “I don’t know how they did it, but I don’t care because it works!” TiGi Bed Head Superstar Volumizing Leave in Conditioner ($16.99/6.76oz @ beautydeals.net) really does what it says it does. It’s a very lightweight leave in conditioner, yet it gives you lots of volume when styling. It detangles and strengthens hair while adding body, shine and fights frizz. If that isn’t a superstar product, I don’t know what is. Spray in towel dried hair and comb through for superstar status. ~Lisa

Beauty With A Message

Balmshell_2

BALMSHELL is releasing a limited edition Breast Cancer Awareness Lip Gloss called 1 in 8 ($22 @ sephora.com) as in 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Sobering fact. This universally pleasing soft pink color is packaged in the same unique floating artwork tube that makes up all their glosses. Another unique trait? When the gloss is used up, it can be attached to the accompanying key chain component. It’s a gentle reminder to do self-exams each month.

Leave It To The Professionals

I have always thought that the MURAD line was a professional line but I took that back after I saw the new 4some of products that are only available through licensed skin care professionals. The goal of Murad Professional is to strengthen the skin’s immune system using the main ingredient Immuno-Skin Complex. Aging not only affects our body but our skin so these help to specifically target wrinkles, loss of elasticity and discolorations among others.

Each also has aromatherapy benefits by including essential oils of orange, eucalyptus, fir needle and cedarwood.

Murad111_3

Activating Cleansing Emulsion ($65/3.4oz)
Immuno-Skin Inhibitor ($150/1oz)
Daily Moisture Charge SPF 30 ($100/1.7oz)
Nightly Hydro-Lock ($120/1.7oz)

Magic Wand for Eyes

Wonder woman LAURA GELLER has come up with Wonder Wand Eye Brightener Powder. A unique black caseLauragellerwonderwand holds the sponge applicator and wand with a sheer, light reflective powder that highlights wherever you put it. Line your bottom lower lid of your eye and the soft, silvery pink powder brightens your eye and keeps eyeliner from fading and bleeding down. It’s subtle, but effective. You can also dab it in the inner corner of the eye, or you can accentuate a shaped, heightened eyebrow. See the magic for $17.50 @ sephora.com ~Lisa

"Pump Up the Volume, Pump Up the Volume..."

BoujoismascaraI have to rave about the latest mascara find from BOURJOiS. This one is from the Fall Color Collection and the name says it all: Volume Glamour Ultra Black Mascara ($13.50 @ sephora.com). I was seriously amazed at the extra volume and length of my lashes after a few coats of this product! And the dark mineral pigments give you the “ultra” black we mascara aficionados look for. Their claim is “50%” more volume, and I have to say, it lives up to its claim. Get two tubes because you won’t want to run out! ~Lisa

Cranberry Never Felt So Good!

Arcona_2How many times has your best friend complained to you about her large pores? Next time she opens her mouth about it, tell her about ARCONA Cranberry Gommage ($42/3.4oz @ arcona.com). This one uses enzymes to clean, exfoliate and tone the skin and really get into those pores to clean them out. As with any scrub for the face, don’t overdue it and strip your skin. It’s recommended for use a few times a week.

Kick Start Your Life

Dieselsss_3Imagination, memories, fantasy – fragrances can conjure up a vast array of emotions. Tap into your edgy feminine side with DiESEL’s new ‘Fuel for Life’ Femme Spray ($49.50/1.7oz). Notes include florals, jasmine, black pepper, fresh black currant and a base of musk. And the crocheted lace case around the bottle is a really nice touch. Hold on, there’s one for the men too. ‘Fuel for Life’ Homme Spray ($44.50/1.7oz) is definitely masculine. It is top notes of anise and grapefruit, middle notes of raspberry and lavender and base notes of heliotrope and dry woods. This one is encased in a tough guy canvas-type cloth that reminds me of a canteen. Both available in Shower Gel, After Shave (men) and Body Lotion @ nordstrom.com
