Face Technology

SmashboxesSMASHBOX has got your face covered. For foundation, that is. Liquid or powder, these two will give you a flawless complexion. And they are both good for skin!

I’m not one for a liquid these days because they tend to feel heavy but I am floored by this High Definition Healthy FX Foundation ($38). It almost feels like I am not wearing any foundation as it simply sinks in the skin. Here’s the benefits: is oil absorbing, contains anti-aging ingredients, SPF 15, a unique patented moisture time-release system and a new skin cell-energizing ingredient, Ribose. I didn’t know my cells needed re-energizing but I guess they do in order to keep me looking young.
Top your look off with their Function 5 Self-Adjusting Powder Foundation ($36). It’s five kinds of powders in one! Here we go again: non-drying, oil absorbing, contains vitamins A, C, B5 and E, helps calm redness associated with Rosacea, and you can build the coverage you want. Available in six shades. Both @

From You Give Love A Bad Name to Message In A Bottle to Fade To Black. Can’t decide which color? Just paint your nails with whatever tune you’re feeling at the moment. $8.50/.2oz @

Red, Red Lips Part II – More To Make Your Heart Pitter Patter

In continuing our fall feature of Red, Red Lips, have you noticed they are everywhere? Keep in mind that looks in the tube can be deceiving and you only truly know a shade’s coverage once you apply it.

Here are our October picks for Red, Red Lips (Clockwise from Left). ~Lisa

  1. Intensely dark and mystifying is the color Cassis from BOBBI BROWN. This is a mixture of dark berry red with a touch of claret and brown. This Lip Color Lipstick is a semi-matte with creamy rich full coverage. $21 @
  2. BOURJOIS Lovely Rouge Satin Lipstick in Rouge Best is a deep cherry red for medium to fair complexions (blue undertones) from the Lovely Rouge Line. It’s super creamy and one of the sexiest reds around! $14 @
  3. Berry reds look great with the gray we are all wearing for fall. Carnelian Whisper from VINCENT LONGO fits the bill perfectly. The Velvet Riche Rejuvenating Lipstick collection brings us emollient lotion like lipstick. Mmm… $23 @
  4. Start your engines with Race Car Red from PRESCRiPTIVES Colorscope Lipcolor. This long lasting creamy formula is full of pigment for a vibrant apple red hue. $17.50 @
  5. I call this a classic Marilyn Monroe red, but its official name from MAKE-UP DESIGNORY is Lady Bug Lipstick. This is a satin formula but it gives a matte full coverage finish. $18.50 @
  6. It’s absolutely FAB. British Red from the L’OREAL Colour Riche collection is one for all seasons. It’s a gorgeous red with a bit of orange that will work with all skin tones. Wear creamy moisturizing color from the sassy gold case. And it has a fragrance that reminds me of lipsticks from long ago… $8.49 @
  7. In the matte category, I am loving FACE ATELIER in Strawberry Lipstick from the Power Play collection. It’s a true intense matte look, but not drying at all! You will get noticed with this color! Blow strawberry red kisses to your fans. $20 @
  8. Imagine red and brown/brick together. Imagine this color with a stunning mossy green tweed suit. Run right out to get SHISEIDO The Makeup Perfecting Lipstick in P7 (Red Luxe). Rich with 3 D Powder and Full Saturated Color Powder, this one’s a winner. $22 @
  9. ISADORA Cream Intensive Lipstick is fragrance free and color rich! Golden Red is a red/coral shimmer for the days when you want a less intense red. It’s just what it says it is, creamy with intense moisturizing color. $10.49 @
  10. Yeh baby! Glide on the shade Red Ruby from PUR MINERALS and you’ll feel the difference. Red Ruby is an intense dark scarlet red. Best for medium to olive skin tones. $15 @

Love Your Body, Now Love Your Hair with Dove

I swear styling products should be by prescription only. I gotta find me a class or something – Hair Styling 101. I just can’t seem to ever get it the way I want! But when it comes to cleaning, DOVE keeps it real, as in real women, as we’ve seen. I’m impressed that they have taken this stance and now they are going one step further and into the hair territory. We all want Hollywood Hair but as this video shows, it takes a lot of time and money and frankly, it’s pretty unrealistic. I think I’ll just stick with giving it my best shot.

DovesOne thing I think I have a good grip on is shampoos and conditioners. DOVE Cool Moisture Shampoo and Cool Moisture Conditioner, both in the Cucumber & Green Tea scent, are very gentle to the hair and that smell, I can’t get enough. This duo is not for those who color treat their strands. $7.99/25.4oz each @

Fall Color Pick - Mossy Green

I consider greens, as in mossy greens, a very neutral color. They are so earthy, warm and natural that they could take the place of nudes in most cases. Olive, tarragon, and the creatively named products below, all make up our 2nd Fall Color Pick, Mossy Green.
The way I’m thinking about this piece is if I were to paint a picture of moss using different shades and textures, which ones would I use? Here are our picks to make up our portrait:

Where Have You Been All My Life?

Bedhead2This product comes under the category of “I don’t know how they did it, but I don’t care because it works!” TIGI Bed Head Superstar Volumizing Leave in Conditioner ($16.99/6.76oz @ really does what it says it does. It’s a very lightweight leave in conditioner, yet it gives you lots of volume when styling. It detangles and strengthens hair while adding body, shine and fights frizz. If that isn’t a superstar product, I don’t know what is. Spray in towel dried hair and comb through for superstar status. ~Lisa

Quad 411 with Hard Candy

HardcandiesHARD CANDY has two new Eye Shadow Quads ($28 @ on the scene! Their Quads are some of my favorite ever. The colors are so unique and the quality is fantastic. For some reason I am just not as drawn to their single shadows as I am to these palettes. Big recommendation!

Frigid – electric lavender * golden seafoam with sparkle * bronze * pale lavender
Sushi - deep metallic green * light greenish-gold with sparkle * shimmering champagne * olive
