Get Baked!

I am loving all the baked eye shadows the lines are putting out. They can be used with a wet or dry brush and the shades are all pretty wearable. LAURA GELLER Baked Marble Eyeshadows ($22 @ sephora.com)Lauragellersss are multiple shades of color swirled into a nice size pan. Use your brush to maneuver it to pick up all the shimmery colors or concentrate on specific shades in the pan. Color picks are the Blue Heaven and Stardust shown here.

Perfecting Skin With 3Lab

3lab_3File this one under Total Beauty Pampering. 3LAB WW Cream ($400/2oz @ saks.com) does it all in the fight against aging and is at the forefront of technology. It uses two powerful ingredients, Phyllantus Emblica Fruit Extract and Hydranox complexes to really attack and soften facial wrinkles, brighten the complexion and improve the texture and tone. It really seems to do what it promises. I could go on and on about the benefits but I think you get the picture. So if you are really serious about making a change in your skin, and can afford it, this one is worth a try.

Be Gentle With Me, Cutler

CutlershampCutlercond_2In this transitional weather season, we must rethink our moisturizers, makeup … and hair care. If you can’t make it into one of Rodney Cutler’s famous Manhattan hair salons, you can experience his expertise in your own home! CUTLER Extra Gentle Shampoo is the perfect haven for “s-tressed” out hair transitioning from the heat of summer to the coolness of the fall. Hair really feels soft and has no tangles with this tenderly refining shampoo ($16/8oz). Even better is the Intensive Conditioner ($17/8oz), which nourishes dry and damaged hair without weighing hair down. The cool blue stripes really stand out in the shower so the bottles are easily found to instantly work their magic. All @ amazon.com ~Lisa

The Sun Still Shines

SunscreensIf it’s starting to look and feel a little like fall in your town, don’t be deceived. The sun is still out and shining those UVA and UVB rays, so you still need to protect your face and body. Lots of excellent choices out there so you can choose the one that fits you best.

POLA 1/f (pronounced un-ef) Suncut Milk SPF30 is allergy tested, water resistant and comes in a special formula, one for the face and one for the body ($24/2.1oz @ polakirei.com). I really like to treat my face differently and so I appreciate two different products. Makeup glides on over this non-greasy lotion.

SKiN MEDiCA Environmental Defense Sunscreen SPF30+ contains Hyaluronic acid (for hydrating), vitamin E, caffeine and green tea extract for antioxidant protection. This cutting edge sunscreen is excellent for extended exposure to sun. $38/3oz @ skinstore.com
The spray is the way to go.
JUNE JACOBS Spa Collection Oil-Free Sunscreen Mist, SPF 15 is a convenient and great smelling way to apply sunscreen.  A very fine mist sprays the lotion, which is quick drying and will not clog your pores. But the best thing about the spray is that you can cover those hard to reach places on your back and legs. This formula is very moisturizing so it can multi task. The soft citrus and ginger scent is soothing and not overpowering. $36/7.2oz @ junejacobs.com ~Lisa

A Homeopathic Delight by Korres

KorresAny beauty product with the word honey in the title gets my immediate attention. I just love what honey does for my skin. The Greek company, KORRES, was an early one on the market that endorsed the all-natural way. 1996 to be exact and they have grown to 150 products strong. None of the products contain mineral oils, silicones, or propylene glycol. They spend a little more for quality natural ingredients but the costs are pretty reasonable in comparison. Two new additions to the line are the Thyme Honey Cream ($26.50/1.35oz) and Thyme Honey Mask ($29.50/1.35oz). Thyme honey is one of the best qualities of honey available in Greece and contains a lot of antioxidants. This ingredient ensures maximum moisture and these are both made for normal to dry skin. Fall Color Picks - Nude Shimmer

Fall is here and we couldn't be more excited! And with the season come some great color trends. Twice a month until December, we will be featuring two colors we are loving and the makeup products that highlight them. Here's our first installment!

Ask most men about NUDE and they think of well, besides that, one color. Women … well, we know all the variations. There’s fleshy nude, beige nude, beige-y pink nude and even metallic-y nude and the formulas can be sheer or very pigmented. I love that the color can really polish off a look if you’re going for simple and low maintenance or if you want to make one feature really stand out. Add a sprinkle of shimmer and you have one of this season’s “it” colors. And what’s great about this shade as it’s hard to go overboard. You can do all your features in different nudes and still look fab. Lips, face, eyes ... here’s our picks of Nude Shimmers for the season:

Get It ALL At the Gap

Gaphandlotion_3Gapbodylotion_2Our favorite jean store has some new terrific bath and body products out. Lots of fragrances to choose from at the GAP, but today, let’s talk about SugarSnap!  This lively combination of lotus and pear flowers with a hint of musk just perks up your skin. I have hand cream everywhere and I decided to keep their GapBody Hand Cream ($10.50/3.4oz) in my office. Everyone keeps asking about the new fragrance I’m wearing. For nighttime or anytime really the GapBody Body Lotion is a delicious and creamy slathering of softness ($16.50/6.7oz). Check out the other pieces to the line, including bath oil, bath salts, body lotion, shower gel and scrubs in stores or @ gap.com ~Lisa

What Season Is It Anyway?

ApothiaIt seems like any on-going cable drama is good. I was hooked on the first two seasons of The L Word but blah, fell off in the third season. So I was very intrigued by APOTHiA’s L Eau de Parfum ($75/1.7oz and $30/deluxe sample @ ronrobinsoninc.com) when this came out early last year. What in the world could this scent be about?? It was created by input from 7,500 fans and what they think would best represent. The result? A light sensuous fragrance with notes of angelica, violet leaf, vetiver and sandalwood, among others.Cleanlather I expected a very watered down, trendy scent but surprisingly enough, it wasn’t.

The CLEAN line has pretty much revolutionized the fragrance industry with their fresh scents. I don’t know the last time a fragrance line has consistently put out several no nonsense fragrances that have sold so well. The latest is Lather Eau de Parfum ($76/2.14oz @ cleanperfume.com) and it’s just what you would expect from this line – clean and shower fresh with notes of citrus, florals and a touch of musk and wood.
And the best trait about both of these? They are great to wear no matter what season.
