That’s it. I’m making a bold stand this season. I’m saying yes to liquid liner! Sure sheer washes of shadow are nice and delicate but nighttime looks beg you to kick it up and what better way than with the six new Liquid Liner shades from URBAN DECAY. Revive Your Skin

Need help controlling your normal to oily skin that’s on the sensitive side? ReVIVE SKINCARE’s Sensitif Oil-Free Lotion SPF 15 ($195 @ reviveskincare.com) to the rescue! It helps balance that T-zone and it contains their EGF (Epidermal Growth Factor), which speeds up the rate that skin cells regenerate. When we age, we all know that cell production decreases and this natural protein molecule claims to increase turnover. This EGF is made up of 53 amino acids that help neutralize free radicals and rejuvenate damaged skin. Pretty amazing concoction packed in a 2oz bottle.

Who’s That Gal?

This pink primer takes any gal from dull to dazzling with a few simple strokes. That Gal Brightening Face Primer from BENEFiT COSMETiCS can be worn alone for a brighter appearance or before makeup so you get a smoother application from other products. One of the best parts is it can be reapplied during the day to re-brighten your complexion and it doesn’t seem to mess up the makeup you already have on. Lucky Lips

We often wonder how many different things you can say about a Lip Gloss. I mean … it’s a Lip Gloss! You can talk about colors, texture, SPF. But what can you really say that is new and that no one’s heard yet?? I guess I know what I like when it comes to this category and this next new one meets the standard.
What’s not sticky, not tacky, and comes in 7 shades? TALLULAH COSMETICS Glossary Super Gloss ($16 @ tallulahcosmetics.com). Here are some key qualities – it uses mica to make lips appear fuller instead of anything stingy (ow!!), contains SPF15, and is mineral based. This is a line worth checking out.

The Look ... The Feel ... The Smell ... of Cotton

What fabric do we love next to our bodies in the hot sticky summer? Breathable cotton, of course. I’ve found two products that bring that freshly dried linen smell of cotton right to your nose.

CLEAN PERFUME Warm Cotton Eau de Parfum ($76/2.14oz @ sephora.com) captures  the fresh feeling of a fluffy, warm towel just pulled from the dryer or slipping into soft clean sheets at night. Notes of citrus, lilac and jasmine over a blend of amber and musk make this fragrance so uniquely say summer.

I love using an absorbing powder in the summer and here comes High Cotton Body Dust ($22.50/3.5oz @ Origins stores nationwide) from FARMAESTHETiCS, organically made with love from Texas’ Brenda Brock. Good for you natural and herbal ingredients make this perfect for cooling off after a shower on a hot summer day. I even sprinkle some on my bed sheets for an absolutely dry, fresh smell of cotton, which is mixed with lavender and white thyme flowers. Spandex Is In!

Leave it to BORBA to put out a product like this next one. Fiber-Knit Diamond Body Polish - Firming – Cherimoya ($28/6.8oz @ borba.net) sounds run of the mill but it is so not. Like this product we featured a few weeks ago, it uses what you already have.  It claims to “help activate the skin’s natural memory enhancers” using hydrolyzed spandex fibers to stimulate and prepare your pores so the diamond powder and soapberry extract, among others, can deeply clean and exfoliate and fix trouble areas. What’s left behind is skin that is firmer and smoother. Unlike a normal exfoliator, you need to leave this one on the skin for a few minutes before rinsing.

Attention Comfort Queens

As soon as I get home for the night, I have two rituals. First, get into comfy clothes, second, put long hair up. Total ease and max comfort when I’m using i/m Featherweight Head Wraps ($5.99 fer a two-pack @ imstudio.com). Each stretchy band not pulls my hair back, but it stays put nicely for hours and it’s very comfortable! I can’t tell you how many bands I have bought that look comfortably and functional but turn out not to be. A stylish way to stay cool this summer.

Bathing Beauties

At Cybelesays, we all love discovering wonderful bath products. And this upcoming line proved to be exceptional. ViA BOTANiCA sampled us with three delicious hand made products and I recommend all of them.

Even if JUiCE BEAUTY skincare wasn’t 95% certified organic or an extremely effective full service skincare line, I would go back to it time and time again just for the delicious fragrances of the products!
Make a special note of the soap-free Cleansing Milk ($22/6oz). Rich raspberry and white grape juice mixed with soothing Aloe vera and vitamins melt makeup off and gently cleanse.

My next nose/skin pick is the Antioxidant Serum ($45/2oz). It has a powerful blend of natural vitamin antioxidants to rejuvenate, help smooth fine lines and firm your skin. You can use it morning and night.

Magic Sponges

I thought I had seen it all until stumbling upon SPONGEABLES. This is the most fun way to shower for kids of all ages, and I’m completely hooked. Children will be asking you if they can take a shower rather than having to cajole them into doing so, and adults will find showering to be a whole new experience. This is a shower gel in a sponge and gives 20+ showers. You get to exfoliate, moisturize, massage, and wash with the sponge that contains time-released gel. Scents of Summer

TOCCA has summertime down with their new Candle in Montauk ($36/10.6oz = 60 hours @ tocca-candle.com). Quality is expected when it comes to this line and this one throws a combination of fresh salt air and sea grass in the room. And the name? It’s the easternmost tip of Long Island and a beautiful spot.

Threesomes Are So In

When it comes to beauty products, presentation is everything. And the JiMMYJANE line really thinks of detail when it comes to packaging their quality products. Known to the world as a sophisticated adult company, they have been testing the waters on this side of the beauty pond. We loved their Ember Emollient Massage Candle back in December so I was really excited when their new Threesome Essential Fragrances ($65 each or $95/all 3 scents @ jimmyjane.com) arrived in the mail. These 3-5ml roll-on bottles come in a sturdy embossed white box and inside the vials are tucked into a cotton cloth that keeps each safe from breaking.

Ok, about each scent. Each fragrance is made only with essential oils:

Wit – Sparks the intellect through bergamot, grapefruit, violet leaf and sandal wood

Charm - Taps the emotions using linden blossom, Bulgarian rose, blue tansy and coffee arabica

Flowers N' Fruit

The POLA line comes to us all the way from Japan. Founded in 1929, Pola has quite an extensive line of skin care, body care, and even hair. They just launched the product line here in the states and I am very excited to experience these. My pick of the line this week is their Eau de Fleur Fragrance Body Shampoo ($22 @ polakirei.com). This is one huge beautiful 16.8oz bottle of relaxation in pretty in a bottle. Some days I don’t want to use a scented body wash but others, I do. This one leaves a very subtle fragrance on the skin. Available in three scents: Casa Blanca (white lily), Pure Cattleya (orchid), and Rose, shown here.

Like a little dessert in the shower? CAKE Desserted Island Supremely Rich Bath and Shower Froth ($18/8.5oz @ cakebeauty.com) is all things coconut and vanilla. And like the name says, this one is frothy and foamy. Very decadent!

Getting In Touch With the Fifth Element

Using traditional Asian holistic therapies as the base of their home spa line, AKHASSA, is also really green. Not only do they help support communities in various countries where they get their ingredients but they also have a great respect for the traditions in these nations. Their Varada Hand Therapy Gift Set ($32 @ akassausa.com) is simply a treat to indulge in. Start with the Jasmine Rice Hand Scrub (2.8oz). Work it into the backs of hands and wrists. After drying, follow with the soothing Jasmine Rice and Cream (2.8oz) hand lotion. I don’t think any other scent could have been used to make this anymore enjoyable. And remember, doing a quick exfoliation before applying any lotion or cream can aid in its ability penetrate the skin. Also included is a 100% cotton white towel and all three items are packed in a rattan chocolate box. I bought some of these great woven boxes when I was in Bali a few years ago! This gift set is a great way to try out the line.

Say What Serum

SKiNCEUTiCALS has a huge line of face-saving products. The super star of the week for me is the Serum 15 AOX. It’s formulated with15% L-Ascorbic Acid with Ferulic Acid. Huh? Simply stated, this is a very potent serum to apply to your face and neck before your moisturizer and it’s formulated for all skin types. It’s high in anti-oxidants with great anti-aging benefits. It also helps protect against damaging UVA/UVB rays and stimulates collagen production. And as an added bonus, I noticed that my makeup goes on a lot smoother too after using it. First, the SUKI line known for its all natural skin care line is coming out with a line of cosmetics. According to WWD, it will be called Sukicolor Fresh Finish Mineral Cream Makeup and will hit shelves on August 1st.

PRADA is coming out with a new scent, Infusion d'Iris, this September

MD SKINCARE is rolling out four new face serums under the Hydra-Pure Radiance Renewal Serum umbrella. Each containing their Hydra-Pure Chelating Complex, which we wrote about a few weeks ago. These will be available this fall.

French skin care line, INSTITUT ESTHEDERM, will be launching their highly successful Osmo Cellular Care in the US at the end of August.
